About Your Move

How much notice do you require?

We prefer at least two weeks’ notice for the best results, so we can consult with you and plan our staff, truck and resources accordingly and efficiently. We can do short notice as well depending on the workload we have booked already. Please call to check availability.

How long will it take to do my move?

We can provide the best estimate of the time required once we have discussed and explored your needs and based on the information you provide.

What happens if something gets damaged during my move?

With our experienced and caring team, we have very few damages.

Goods are carried at “Owner's Risk” under the terms of the NZ Carriage of Goods Act. This means that Prices Packers and Movers, as a carrier, will pay no compensation if goods are lost or damaged, unless the loss or damage is intentional.

All items loaded on the truck are blanket-wrapped for protection in transit.

We can offer in-transit insurance at your declared value. Please ask us for a quotation.

Payment Options

When do I pay for my move?

Payment is required before uplifting. Upon booking, an invoice will be sent with bank details for payment via bank transfer. We also accept AfterPay.

If your move is an hourly rate, the team will have a mobile EFTPOS for payment on completion.

If you require a different method of payment, for example, credit card, please contact us to arrange.

Can we buy cartons and packing material from you?

If you choose to pack yourself, yes, we can provide packing material to help with this. Please discuss it with your consultant.

If you choose to provide your own boxes, we are happy to move these for you. Please ensure that boxes are not too heavy for the team to move (e.g., a large box full of books can cause injury to our team).

Preparing For Your Move

Will Prices disassemble and reassemble beds?
  • All our crew are experienced and trained and have tools for normal beds. We also specialise in electric bed disassembly and reassembly. Please discuss this with your consultant so we can plan for this.
  • We do have handymen on hand for more difficult items of furniture. Please note: Handymen may come at an extra charge if the items are particularly technical.
Can you move the freezer with food in it?

For local moves, yes, we can.

Do we empty the fridge?

Yes, we suggest that you box your fridge items and label them clearly so the team can place the box in the kitchen for you to unpack back into the fridge at your new home.

We also recommend that you do not switch on your fridge for an hour once put in place to allow inside gas to settle.

Do all drawers need to be emptied?

Large, sturdy drawers filled with lighter items, such as clothes and bedding, can remain full. We recommend removing breakable and heavy items (such as books) from drawers as they can pop the bottom of the drawers out in transit.

Loose miscellaneous items should be removed from small bedside or desk drawers as these sometimes need to be transported on their sides.

Can you disconnect and reconnect the washing machine?

Yes, we can do this. However, we can’t take responsibility for any leaks or flooding when disconnecting/reconnecting the washing machine. Sometimes the movement of these seals and hoses reveals other hidden issues, such as weak or fractured connections or dry seals/washers.

Will you take the boxes away?

Yes, we can collect boxes free of charge when we are next passing near your home. Please flatten the cartons and keep everything dry.
